Diversity and Inclusion

Our goal is to be a diverse workforce that is representative, at all levels, of the people of Nova Scotia.

Workforce Diversity encompasses “learning, creativity, flexibility, organizational and individual growth, and the ability of our Public Service to adjust rapidly and successfully to societal changes. In order to have policies, programs and services that are relevant, responsive and culturally competent we must have a diverse workforce at all levels of the Public Service”.

The Public Service Commission works collaboratively with Departments, Agencies, Boards and Commissions, to attract, develop and retain skilled people that are representative of all our communities and to ensure we are an inclusive, culturally competent Public Service that values diversity.

Diversity and Respect are public service values. The Respectful Workplace and Corporate Diversity unit supports Government’s commitment to a healthy, safe and inclusive workplace and to providing a work environment where all persons are treated with respect and dignity.

Respectful Workplace and Corporate Diversity furthers government’s goal to be a diverse workforce that is representative, at all levels, of the people of Nova Scotia; and protects the right of all employees to work in an environment free from harassment, sexual harassment, and discrimination.
