Canada's National Healthy Workplace Month runs from October 5 to November 1. It is a time to open up and talk about the importance cultivating a healthy workplace culture means to employees and departments. This year's theme surrounds itself around taking action to improve the health of our minds, bodies and workplaces.
Each week dedicates itself to a particular subject around feeling great about life at work, with family and friends, at play, and giving back to your community.

Jumpstarting Your Healthy Workplace Committee - October 20, 2009 (afternoon)
This half day workshop is intended to assist in developing a Healthy Workplace Committee structure in provincial government workplaces. Intended for new members or those tasked with setting up a Healthy Workplace Committee. Please register with Rima by October 16.
Quest for a Healthy Workplace - Nov. 4 and Nov. 5 (half day)
Building on the knowledge of Level 1: Commitment, the purpose of this workshop is to provide healthy workplace leaders and team members with the knowledge and resources necessary to implement the National Quality Institute (NQI) Healthy Workplace Criteria, Level 2: Planning in their department or business unit, based on the Progressive Excellence Implementation approach. A review of Level 1 will be provided. Please register with Rima by October 30.
Beacons for Health - Train-the-Trainer - Nov. 17 (all day)
The NS Public Service Commission in partnership with the NS Canadian Cancer Society is offering a train-the-trainer workshop called 'Beacons for Health' on cancer prevention and awareness. Upon completion of these sessions, participants will be expected to provide cancer awareness and prevention presentations to their colleagues. Participants will practice making the presentations and be provided with the required resources to facilitate presentations, including what to do when a colleague, family or friend is diagnosed with cancer.
