Getting Senior Support

Having the support and buy-in of your department’s senior leaders/managers will go a long way to making sure your Employee Recognition Program succeeds and is sustainable. The best way to get senior support is to prepare a solid business case explaining why your department needs a program, how much it will cost, the commitment it will require from other department members, and what the expected outcomes will be.

This step in the Tool Kit will help you build the case for support by guiding you to:

  • gather information on what recognition is and how it contributes to the achievement of your department’s goals, objectives and priorities as identified through business planning.
  • Make linkages to attraction and retention or healthy workplace initiatives, or the need to improve feedback on employee surveys.
  • identify senior stakeholders and obtain their support.
