Short Term Illness (STI) Support Program

We all may experience some form of illness or injury throughout our lives. Occasionally, an illness or injury is significant enough to influence our abilities, daily activities, and work experiences. When this happens, we are committed to our employees and their safe and healthy return to the workplace. That’s why we are strengthening our absence management practices and processes, and partnering with Morneau Sheppell to better serve and support our employees.

The Short Term Illness Support Program offers an innovative and comprehensive approach to case management that provides optimal support to our employees to help them recover and stay connected to the workplace. This includes identification of health issues, coordination of treatment, and providing supports to ensure a safe and healthy return to the workplace.

Some of the key features of the Short Term Illness Support Program include:

  • Professional support from experienced Morneau Shepell Case Managers who are knowledgeable about available resources to assist employees in dealing with mental, social and physical health issues.
  • Support and care for an employee’s specific condition and situation.
  • An objective, consistent, and confidential approach to ability case management.
  • Respect for an employee’s abilities and recognition of any limitation(s) that might exist in light of the illness or injury.
  • Involvement of the employee’s family doctor or specialist in the ability case management process to provide the best support possible.

Morneau Shepell is also our provider of the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP). Please be assured that the two programs are totally separate and completely confidential. The EFAP counsellor will not share information with the Morneau Shepell Short Term Illness program case managers.
