Other Events

Other events to mark Seniors Week are planned in many communities throughout the province, hosted by local organizations. Watch your local news sources and community pages for events in your area.

A community toolkit has been developed to support local organizations wishing to host events. Some event suggestions include:

  • An organized walk, ending at a common location for coffee/tea and conversation.
  • Engaging a local speaker on a relevant topic. Ask the local library or community hub if they have an available meeting space.
  • A book club discussion. The book could be written by a local senior author or on a topic relevant to aging well.
  • Show a movie or video presentation on a topic of aging well. There are many free films available online. You can find a selection at  Movies about Aging and Elderhood. The Links to Free Films section has many videos of varying lengths. Don't forget the popcorn!

Community toolkit
