Cookies

Below is a list of the persistent cookies that novascotia.ca/sns uses, what information they hold, and their purpose. For general information on what cookies are, and how to control them on your computer, see the Cookies Information page.

Multiple cookies may be found in a single file depending on which browser you use:

SNID (Subscriber Network Interface Device)

A unique ID assigned to the subscriber network and the user; it will log aggregate amounts of searches, hits and web pages.

NID (Network Interface Device)

Unique identifiers given to each computer to allow traffic analysis to Google Maps.

PREF

Stores a unique ID number to track user preferences.

_utma

A cookie for Google Analytics which identifies unique visitors.

_utmb

A session cookie for Google Analytics which only identifies the session.

_utmc

A cookie is used by Google Analytics in conjunction with __utmb to determine visitor sessions. Unlike __utmb this cookie does not have an expiry date, it determines whether a new session should be created based on whether you have previously closed your browser, re-opened it and come back to the site.

_utmz

A cookie for Google Analytics which  identifies the tracking traffic sources and navigation.

LPV

A cookie for the Ask Public Enquiries form that stores the last page visited.

SelectSurveyASPAnonymousUser1 D

A cookie for Select Surveys which recognizes an anonymous user.

SessionUA

A session cookie for the Nova Scotia Business Registry which identifies the user's session.

serviceNS-textSize

A cookie stores the users text size preferences from the accessibility controls.

Customer_UUID

A unique customer identifier that allows the store to remember cart contents.

JsessionID

A unique session identifier that retains cart content for the duration of the store session. This cookie is deleted at the end of the session.

_atuvc

 A cookie that enables the use of to Social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
