Who Needs This Registration?
Anyone who wants to own honey bees in Nova Scotia.

Application Process:

The applicant must notify the Provincial Apiculturist, Department of Agriculture within ten days of obtaining, or just prior to obtaining, honey bees. The Provincial Apiculturist will assign a unique alphanumeric code to the beekeeper, and enter it in the Nova Scotia Beekeeper and Apiary Registry (database). The Provincial Apiculturist will then send the registration to the applicant by mail.

Waiting Period:
7 to 10 business days
provided that all the items that must accompany the application have been received
 
Expiry & Renewal:
This registration is valid from date of issue to the end of the calendar year in which it was issued. It must be renewed, and the renewal time is November. The Department will send a renewal form to the licence holder at the beginning of that renewal period. Annual registration forms must be completed including statistical data and apiary locations.
