| Anyone who wants to buy, for personal use only, forest products (timber)
with a value of less than $200 from Crown Lands in Nova Scotia.
Note: This is not available in all areas of the Province. |

Application Forms & Process: |

An application form for this Letter of Authority can be obtained
from the nearest Local
or Area Office of the N.S. Department of Natural Resources. When the
application is completed, it is submitted to the same office.
If all requirements are met and the application is approved, the applicant
will be notified by the local office. |
Waiting Period: |
| 80 business days (3.5 months) |
Expiry & Renewal: |
| This Letter of Authority is valid for up to 3 weeks for fuelwood,
and up to 2 months for specialty products. |
Price: (HST is charged) |
| The fee here is what is called "stumpage rate", which equals the
current rate (adjusted annually) times the amount of timber cut.
Tax is charged on stumpage rate.
Payment in advance: Minimum $26.47

- Term of this Letter of Authority will usually be not more than
1 or 2 months, subject to compatibility with Crown Land management planning.
- Sales of large values are by tender.
- Anyone may request that certain areas be offered for tendered sales.
The Department will consider such requests and may or may not conduct
such sales subject to compatibility with policy and plans for Crown
Land management.
- Sales canot be conducted if any other lease or licence for similar
forest products is held on the site.
