Who Needs This
Certification? |
This is an achievement certification which verifies
that someone has completed the Food Handlers Education Program offered
by Nova Scotia Environment or an outside private agency.
Food handlers: Pursuant to the Nova Scotia Food Safety
Regulations, all new food establishments are required to have a minimum
of one trained foodhandler on site at all times and all existing food
establishments will be required to have the same as of November 1, 2007.

Application Process: |
Inquiries about the times and places of these courses should be directed to one of the offices listed above. You can apply online or you can download a form from the Nova Scotia Environment website. The application form and fee must be received at least one week prior to the start date of the course.

Waiting Period: |
Usually 2-4 weeks, depending upon the availability of instructors
and the schedule of classes. |
Expiry & Renewal: |
Upgrading is required every five years. |
