Use of Highway Right-of-Way for Buried Telephone Plant Permit

Who Needs This Permit?

Anyone who wants to bury telephone lines and maintain them within a highway right-of-way in Nova Scotia.

Application Forms & Process:

An application form can be obtained from the nearest district or area office of the Department of Public Works. When completed, it is submitted to the Area Manager. The Area Manager or designate reviews the application including a site visit, determines the amount of deposit required and approves the application, as applicable.

If all requirements are met and the application is approved, the permit will be sent to the applicant by mail. If the application is not approved, the applicant will be notified by mail.

Waiting Period:

1 to 5 business days

Provided that all the items that must accompany the application have been received.

Expiry & Renewal:

This permit does not expire, unless there is a special condition which will be stated on the permit. It is not renewable.

Price:

Free

A deposit may be required to ensure the right-of-way is left in the proper condition.
