regularly used for the transportation of persons with disabilities. These
plates and permits authorize parking in any space designated for persons
with disabilities.
- Application for Accessible Parking Identification Permits requires the
certificationby a qualified medical practitioner -- No fee required. (Doctor
may charge fee, but no fee for permit)
- Permanent and temporary Accessible Parking Identification Permits can
be issued at all Registry of Motor Vehicle locations
in Nova Scotia.
- Application for Accessible Parking Identification Plates requires the
certification by a qualified medical practitioner.
- In order to qualify for Accessible Parking Identification Plates, the
principal driver of the vehicle must be the handicapped individual.
- Regular registration
fees apply to plates.
Accessible Parking Plates for Passenger or Light Commercial Vehicles:
Application for Accessible Parking licence plates for a passenger or light commercial vehicle may be made in person at a Registry of Motor Vehicles / Access Nova Scotia location or by mail (Processing and Distribution Centre PO Box 1652, Halifax, NS, B3J 2Z3).

Accessible Parking Plates for Motorcycles:
Application for Accessible Parking motorcycle plate may only be submitted by mail, fax or dropped off at a Registry of Motor Vehicles / Access Nova Scotia location and forwarded to the processing centre.
The only method of payment accepted for the issuance of an Accessible Parking motorcycle plate is cheque, certified cheque, money order, Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Insurance information is required each time a vehicle registration (plate) is issued or renewed. A Statement of Insurance form must be completed for in-person and mail requests. For online renewal requests, you will be asked to provide this information electronically.
