Credit Ratings & Student Assistance

Federal regulations under the Canada Student Financial Assistance Act require a credit check be conducted with credit reporting agencies on all first-time applicants to Nova Scotia Student Assistance who are over the age of 22 as of the date they apply.

You can fail the credit check if you have three or more bad debt that each total $1,000 or more. Obtain a credit report of your own through Equifax or TransUnion.
