Writ of Mandamus against David Easson

To David Fletcher, Deputy Provost Master, commanding him to take David Easson within ten days and commit him to gaol in Annapolis Royal, until he pays the full sum of £2-13-4 owing to David Hooper of Wilmot. Signed by Henry Munro, Justice of the Peace. On the reverse is a statement, signed by Fletcher 10 August 1773 -- time has been extended, since Easson has offered goods [i.e. instead of money] sufficient to discharge the debt. [Small part missing.]

Saunders, apparently a military friend, writes, "it would be the greatest cruelty to think of ordering you to this place. I have Mr. Pringle Wilson to be here to mark out a Battery. You may depend I shall speak to him about you." At the end, "I have sent you a quintal of our Best fish to the care of my Mother at Boston to find you the first opportunity."
