This nature reserve, in eastern Guysborough County, protects a small tract of hardwood dominated forest that is typical of those found in the Mulgrave Hills Natural Landscape. Much of the nature reserve is characterized by stands of predominantly sugar maple, red maple, and yellow birch growing on low rolling hills, interspersed by bogs and poorly drained black spruce dominated forests.
