Tor Bay Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 87-706 (June 9, 1987), N.S. Reg. 112/87


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 21st day of May, A.D., 1987, pursuant to Section 5(1) of Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act, is pleased to determine as a beach an area of land situate at Tor Bay, in the County of Guysborough, lying landward from the mean high water mark and immediately adjacent thereto, the said land being shown outlined in bold line on the copy of Crown Lands Records Centre Plan No. E-13-41 marked Schedule “B” and described in Schedule “A”, both Schedules attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.



Schedule “A”


All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high water mark of Tor Bay Beach at Tor Bay, in the County of Guysborough, Province of Nova Scotia as shown on Plan of Survey (Field Plot No. P-063/86) signed on the 21st day of May, A.D. 1986 by John W. Ross, Nova Scotia Land Surveyor and filed in the Department of Lands and Forests Office, Halifax, the said area of land being more particularly described as:


Beginning at a survey marker, numbered G9116, located at the intersection of the western margin of the Tor Bay Road and the eastern boundary of Crown Grant #12047 and also located on the southern side of a road to a fisherman’s wharf and situated (by grid azimuths referenced to the Nova Scotia Three Degree Modified Transverse Mercator Projection, zone 4, central meridian 61° 30' west longitude) 169° 39' 14", a distance of 1114.085 meters from Nova Scotia Co-ordinate Monument #10633 having co-ordinate values (N 5 006 435.682m, E 4 511 012.707m);


Thence 161° 59' 29", a distance of 224.036 meters along the eastern boundary of Crown Grant #12047 to a survey marker numbered G10340;


Thence 162° 43' 39", a distance of 42.554 meters to a survey marker numbered G10451;


Thence 209° 58' 17", a distance of 34.276 meters to a survey marker numbered G10452;


Thence 144° 33' 41", a distance of 63.910 meters to a survey marker numbered G10453;
