The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice dated January 8, 1998, pursuant to Section 16 of Chapter 238 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, as amended, the Provincial Court Act, is pleased, effective January 13, 1998, to: (a) repeal Order in Council 95-977 dated December 20, 1995, constituting and appointing a Judicial Council; and (b) appoint a Judicial Council composed of: (i) Chief Justice Lorne O. Clarke of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, the Chief Justice of Nova Scotia; (ii) Chief Justice Constance R. Glube of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court; (iii) John Merrick, Q.C., of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, Past President of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society designated by Thomas Burchell, Q.C., President of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society; (iv) Justice Jamie Saunders of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, a Supreme Court Judge designated by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court; and (v) Judge A. Peter Ross of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, a judge of the Provincial Court designated by the Chief Judge.
