R. J. Uniacke to Dalhousie on agricultural matters. The evils of land jobbing are well illustrated in N.S. Agricultural societies now being formed in various parts of the province will supply information as to large unsettled grants in their respective districts. Recommends drawing up sets of questions and sending to societies: (1) to show where unsettled grants are, (2) to show what lands can receive settlers immediately, (3) the quality and extent of lands available for government use. Plan of directing settlement through agricultural societies from central society in Halifax and of using newspapers to encourage would-be emigrants in Europe to come to N.S. Signed.
