Booking a road test is the next step to getting your Nova Scotia driver’s licence. Check below to see if you are eligible to book a road test online.
Who can book a road test online
You can make an online booking for a road test at any Access Nova Scotia location that offers driver examination and testing, and with partner road test providers if you want to book one of these options:

Who should not book a road test online?
- You do not need to book a road test if you are eligible to exchange your licence from any province in Canada or other location listed here
- If you have an incomplete or unsuccessful road test, you must wait until the next day before you can book another road test

Before you take your test: Required Information and Documents
Vehicles are not provided for the road test. You must bring a vehicle you will use for the road test.
Make sure to bring the following documents to the road test:
- Valid driver’s licence
- Documents for the vehicle you will use for your road test:
- Proof of motor vehicle liability insurance
- Valid vehicle permit or temporary permit
- Proof of valid motor vehicle inspection
- Certificate of completion from a recognized Driver Training School (if applicable)
- A Driver's Medical Exam Report completed in the last 6 months if you are booking an appointment for a Class 1, 2, 2B, 3 or 4 licence
Before the road test, a Safety Check of your vehicle will be conducted even if you have a valid motor vehicle inspection.
How to pay for your road test
When you book your test online, you can choose to pay with one of these options:
- Pay online with a credit card (recommended) – Use our new Book a Road Test payment tool to pay securely with a credit card. Once you start the booking process below, you'll be guided to the payment page.
- Pay in-person – Visit any Access Nova Scotia or Registry of Motor Vehicles location to pay with cash, debit, cheque or other non-credit card methods. You'll receive a road test receipt number to enter during booking.
The cost for the road test for all classes is $52.54 (HST included). The cost for an interview is $68.10 (HST included).
How to book your road test if you have already paid
Have you already paid for your road test?
- If you paid in-person or paid using the Pay for a Road test service and have not booked your road test yet, start the booking process below, and enter your road test receipt number when prompted.
- If you've already paid and booked, you can reschedule your road test online.

Clear any fines or fees before booking
Make sure all outstanding fines or reinstatement fees are paid before booking your road test. You will not be able to receive or upgrade your driver’s licence after the test unless they are paid.
