Booking a road test is the next step to getting your Nova Scotia driver's licence. Check below to see if you are eligible to book a road test online.
Who can book a road test online
You can book a road test online if:
- You are booking a road test for a Class 5 licence (passenger vehicle).
- You currently hold a Class 5 licence with a restriction (Condition 46) or a Class 6, Class 7, or Class 8 licence, and are looking to take a road test to upgrade to a Class 5 licence.
Online bookings are currently available for the Lower Sackville location only. Online booking will expand to other locations in the future. If you are looking to book for a different area or for a different class of driver’s licence, please call one of the numbers listed at the end of the page.
Before you book your road test: Required Information and Documents
To book a Class 5 road test online, you will need the following information:
- Your Nova Scotia driver’s licence number
- A road test receipt number as proof of payment (purchase online or in-person at any Access Nova Scotia or Registry of Motor Vehicles location)
- A mobile phone number to receive text message reminders and information about your upcoming road test
Before you take your test: Required Information and Documents
To take your road test, you need to have the following documents with you:
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence
- Proof of motor vehicle liability insurance
- Valid vehicle permit or temporary permit
- Proof of valid motor vehicle inspection
- Certificate of completion from a recognized Driver Training School (if applicable)
Before the road test, a Safety Check will be conducted even if you have a valid motor vehicle inspection.
Clear any fines or fees before booking
Make sure all outstanding fines or reinstatement fees are paid before booking.
You won’t be able to receive or upgrade your driver’s licence after the test unless they are paid.
