NOTE TO EDITORS--MEDIA BRIEFING

     Bill Hayward, co-ordinator of metro amalgamation, will hold
a media briefing at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, in his office at
1801 Hollis Street (Central Guarantee Trust Building), Suite
1510.  Mr. Hayward will outline his mandate and work plan and
provide an update on his progress to date.
