AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--INDUCTION-AGRICULTURAL HALL OF FAME ----------------------------------------------------------- Agriculture and Marketing Minister Wayne Gaudet announced today that the late John (Jack) Cunningham of New Glasgow is the 1995 Nova Scotia inductee into the Atlantic Agricultural Hall of Fame. Mr. Cunningham was a farmer, auctioneer and author. He was best known for his agricultural auctioneering abilities and as a life long friend to agricultural people throughout Atlantic Canada. As an author, he shared many of his auctioneering experiences through a regular column entitled "Memories of a Country Auctioneer" in a Nova Scotia farm newspaper. A book under the same name was later published. In 1993, on the 125th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation, Mr. Cunningham was awarded the Commemorative Medal for his significant contribution to Canada, his community and his fellow Canadians. Jack is survived by his wife, Willa, two daughters and two sons, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Cunningham was nominated by the Pictou North Colchester Federation of Agriculture for his many contributions to Agriculture and his community. The Atlantic Agricultural Hall of Fame honors members of the agricultural community for outstanding contributions to the industry, community and farm organizations.
