ECONOMIC RENEWAL--TOURISM NOVA SCOTIA-VIC STAFFING 1996 ------------------------------------------------------------ Tourism Nova Scotia is looking for the 120 best qualified seasonal/casual employees with which to staff its visitor information centres around the province between May and October next year. Michele McKenzie, director of Tourism Nova Scotia, said the provincial agency is seeking the "most competent candidates, capable of providing the highest levels of quality service necessary to maintain and improve our position in a very competitive tourism marketplace. In other words, we are looking for the very best Nova Scotia has to offer so they, in turn, can help us present ourselves at our very best", she said. Tourism Nova Scotia is looking for candidates with leadership, effective communication and supervisory skills. Candidates will also need tourism-related experience, languages and first-aid. Notices are appearing this week in the province's weekly newspapers, in local Canada Employment Centres across the province, universities, community colleges, Economic Renewal Agency Business Service Centres and Access Nova Scotia Centres. In addition, tourism association newsletters will also be announcing the competition for the varied positions which include supervisors, travel counsellors, maintenance/caretakers, pipers and, at Peggy's Cove, rock patrollers. The deadline for applications is Jan. 15, 1996.
