COMMUNITY SERVICES--SOCIAL ASSISTANCE ------------------------------------------------------------ Community Services Minister Jim Smith said he is pleased that the Halifax Regional Council has accepted the province's offer to assume the delivery of social services in the metro area on April 1, 1996. "Officials from my department and from the Halifax Regional Municipality have been planning for months to ensure a smooth transition to the new system," said Dr. Smith. The province will now proceed to address issues such as staffing and communication with clients. Dr. Smith said, "A great number of people use services in this area.
