NS ART GALLERY--ASSOCIATE CURATOR OF CERAMICS NAMED ----------------------------------------------------------------- Alexandra McCurdy has been appointed associate curator of ceramics at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Bernard Riordon, gallery director announced today. This part-time position includes research, collection development, and exhibition production related to ceramics. In 1994, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia opened the Lloyd and Jean Shaw Gallery - Ceramics and included ceramics in their collection mandate. In making the appointment, Mr. Riordon said: "Ceramics have a special place in the art history of the province, especially the role played by the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Now the gallery has the in-house curatorial expertise to acknowledge this important art form." McCurdy, born in Worcestershire, England holds a bachelor of fine arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and a masters degree in 3D design, ceramics from the Cardiff Institute of Higher Education. Her work has been exhibited in many international, solo and group exhibitions.
