NS ART GALLERY--GREG CURNOE 1936 - 1992 ----------------------------------------------------------------- An exhibition featuring the works of Greg Curnoe will be featured at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia March 9 to May 5. Curnoe was born and lived most of his life in London, Ont. Artist, musician and cyclist, he was passionate about Canada, in particular his hometown, the heart of his identity and the source of his inspiration. His family and friends, heros, passion for cycling and jazz, politics and his life long fascination with his immediate surroundings were the inspiration for his work. This selection of watercolours and drawings from the National Gallery's collection is presented as a tribute to Curnoe who was killed in a cycling accident in 1992. In addition to being an accomplished artist, Curnoe founded a magazine and an art gallery, both called Region, in reference to his belief that the best art comes out of a strong identification with a place or a region. The exhibition is organized by the National Gallery of Canada with Diana Nemiroff as curator. -30- Contact: Ann Marie McKinnon 902-424-8935 trp Feb. 28, 1996 - 3:50 p.m.
