NATURAL RESOURCES--WILDLIFE TO REMAIN AT TWO RIVERS PARK ----------------------------------------------------------------- Natural Resources Minister Don Downe says animals currently kept at Two Rivers Wildlife Park in Cape Breton will remain at the park. "I want to assure local people that, contrary to some reports, the animals are not being removed at the end of March," says Mr. Downe. "After April 1, the Department of Natural Resources will maintain the park and its animals on an interim basis, until an agreement has been finalized with a community group that wants to lease and operate the park." An agreement is expected to be formalized soon. It will be similar to arrangements made last summer with a community group in Annapolis for takeover and operation of the wildlife park at Upper Clements. Financial assistance was arranged by the Economic Renewal Agency and by the Department of Natural Resources. -30- Contact: Blain Henshaw 902-424-5252 trp Mar. 27, 1996 - 4:35 p.m.
