ECONOMIC RENEWAL--QUALITY STUDENT JOBS ON THE NET ----------------------------------------------------------------- For the first time ever, Nova Scotia's students can surf the Net for summer jobs. Starting today, more than 800 career-oriented jobs with non-profit and government-funded organizations can be found on the Economic Renewal Agency's website. Students can browse the Nova Scotia Employment Program for Students Job Catalogue at https://novascotia.ca/ecor/ced/ "We're excited to use our website to make this information more widely available than ever," said Economic Renewal Minister Robbie Harrison. "It also reflects the rate at which Nova Scotia's students are embracing a new way of doing business," he said. The jobs are available to high school students returning to post secondary education, and post-secondary students. They form part of more than 4,000 jobs the Nova Scotia government is creating this summer. Students can also obtain the catalogue from Canada Employment Centres, now known as Human Resource Centres of Canada, university placement offices and Access Nova Scotia centres. Positions available range from research assistants to program coordinators. "The quality of the jobs available this year exceeded our expectations," said Mr. Harrison. "We're also excited about the partnerships forged between the ERA and non-profit organizations to create the jobs." Jobs advertised in the catalogue start as early as May 21. Many last until the end of August, making them longer-term appointments than originally anticipated. -30- Contact: Steve Warburton 902-424-0927 trp Apr. 11, 1996 - 10:45 a.m.
