HEALTH--PHYSICIAN RECRUITED TO SAULNIERVILLE ----------------------------------------------------------------- The village of Saulnierville will soon have a new physician. Dr. Leslie Griffen, who grew up in New Minas and is a graduate of Dalhousie Medical School, will be joining Drs. Michelle Dow and Lionel d'Entremont to practice family medicine in the Municipality of Clare. "We are pleased that Dr. Griffen will be taking up residence in Saulnierville," said Mr. Frank Peters, physician recruitment co-ordinator. "Saulnierville is adjacent to Meteghan, which is an underserviced area. This placement is, therefore, very important to ensuring the people of Meteghan and those living in the Municipality of Clare, continue to have access to quality health care." Together the three physicians will serve a population base of 10,000 residents. Dr. d'Entremont practices in Meteghan Centre, while Dr. Dow practices in Church Point. Since Mr. Peter's appointment in September 1995, a total of 12 positions have been filled across the province -- five have been under the incentive package, while seven physicians have been placed in non-incentive areas. Two more incentive area placements are in various stages of negotiation. Mr. Peters was hired jointly by the Department of Health and the Medical Society of Nova Scotia to recruit physicians to Nova Scotia. -30- Contact: Donna Christopher 902-468-1866 trp Apr. 23, 1996 - 4:37 p.m.
