EDUCATION/CULTURE--VIRTUAL REALITY DEMONSTRATION ----------------------------------------------------------------- The Nova Scotia Community College, Truro Campus is holding a public demonstration of its new virtual reality tracking system tomorrow (Friday, May 31) at 8 p.m. Will Bauer, virtual reality developer and owner of Acoustic Positioning Research of Edmonton will present a short discussion on the system, which he invented. His talk, entitled "The Gesture and Media System, Virtual and Integrated Media" will be followed by a hands-on demonstration. Members of the public are invited to take part in the demonstration. The system allows individuals to walk through an interactive space - literally turning themselves into a computer mouse. Participants will interact with a virtual environment entitled Idle Hands, which was created by Interactive Technology faculty member Steve Gibson and Spanish media artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. All members of the public and media are invited to attend the event. -30- Contact: Steve Gibson or Catherine MacIsaac 902-893-5360 jlw May 30, 1996 4:50 p.m.
