JUSTICE--COURT FACILITY TO OFFICIALLY OPEN ----------------------------------------------------------------- New court facilities in the District of Clare will officially be opened at 11 o'clock Friday morning, by Justice Minister Jay Abbass and Minister responsible for Acadian Affairs. The new facility serves the provincial and family court sittings for the District of Clare, and ensures that residents of the area do not have to travel for court appearances. The facilities offer more interview rooms for counsel and are wheelchair-accessible. Earlier this year, the Department of Justice reached an agreement with the municipality to relocate the court facilities to the former Comeauville School. The province awarded the tender for the $12,657 renovations to local company St. Mary's Bay Construction. Renovations were completed in the spring of this year, with the first sittings held in April. "The opening of these facilities demonstrates the commitment of the Department of Justice to the people of Clare," said Mr. Gaudet. "These court facilities respond to the unique needs of this community." -30- Contact: Michele McKinnon 902-424-6811 trp Sept. 18, 1996 - 3:15 p.m.
