NEWS RELEASE (CNS722) -->> AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--FARMERS TALKING TO FARMERS E-MAIL REGISTRY AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--FARMERS TALKING TO FARMERS E-MAIL REGISTRY ----------------------------------------------------------------- Agricultural and Marketing Minister Guy Brown today announced a new service to assist farmers to communicate with one another through the Internet. An e-mail registry called Farmers Talking To Farmers E-mail Registry will be provided through the Department of Agriculture and Marketing and maintained by the extension branch. The registry will enable farmers to find addresses of other Nova Scotian farmers they wish to "talk" to rather than sifting through numerous Internet phone books. "Computers and successful farm business go hand in hand these days," said Mr. Brown. "By adding this service it is another way to help our clients keep in touch," he added. Signing into the registry is simple. Interested farmers just point their Internet browsers to the department's world wide address (http://www.nsac.ns.ca/nsdam/index.html) and follow the pointers to the registry page. After filling out the form they submit the information to the list. They can also search the list for the names and e-mail address of other farmers who have registered. The list is organized in alphabetical order for easy searching or can be simply scanned. While at the Department of Agriculture and Marketing Web site, farmers are encouraged to check out some of the other information now available on line. -30- Contact: Jim Goit 902-893-7950 trp Oct. 29, 1996 - 11:45 a.m.
