AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--AGRICULTURE COLLEGE STUDENTS TO BE HONORED ----------------------------------------------------------------- Outstanding academic performance will be honored at the annual autumn assembly of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC), Truro, tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996), with the presentation of more than 200 scholarships and bursaries. The autumn assembly program at the NSAC recognizes the college's scholarship students and acknowledges the contributors to the college's awards program. "Employers and students alike are recognizing the quality agricultural education that can be obtained at the NSAC," said Agriculture and Marketing Minister Guy Brown. "Strong leadership, advanced programming and an outstanding awards program continue to attract the best and the brightest to the leading agricultural institution in Atlantic Canada." The college is growing to meet the demand for well-educated graduates in the agriculture and agri-food industry. Growth in expertise, enrolment and quality programing such as aquaculture, agri-business, and environmental agribiology, have been made possible through the generous contributions of concerned businesses, organizations and alumni. "Scholarship support plays an integral part in attracting students to the Nova Scotia Agricultural College," said Dr. Bernie MacDonald, interim principal, NSAC. "Our awards offerings have grown significantly this year and our deepest gratitude is extended to all contributors with assurances that scholarships, bursaries and awards are making a significant contribution to the future of the agri-food industry." Guest speaker this evening will be NSAC alumnus Arnold Rovers. Mr. Rovers is Deputy Minister of the Nova Scotia Department of Business & Consumer Services after a long and diverse career with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing, serving as Deputy Minister from January 1995 - April 1996.
