NEWS RELEASE (CNS792) -->> ART GALLERY OF NOVA SCOTIA--UPCOMING EVENTS ART GALLERY OF NOVA SCOTIA--UPCOMING EVENTS ----------------------------------------------------------------- The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, 1741 Hollis St. Halifax, has a number of special events planned for the month of December. On Sunday, Dec. 8, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., as part of the gallery's Sunday program, AGNS will feature a festive workshop to bring families together with art. Participants will make holiday season decorations, listen to music, and enjoy light refreshments. Admission is free, and participants should pre-register by calling 902-424-3002. Also on Dec. 8, at 1 and 3 p.m. in the gallery theatre, the film Shining Vision, starring Bing Crosby and Cary Grant will be shown. This special screening is part of a series of historic Canadian films to complement the exhibition, Flash From the Past: The Art and Craft of Film-making. The Shining Vision was made for Canadian audiences to promote Victory Bonds. On Saturday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m., the historic films series continues with the showing of The Royal Visit, the 1939 film made by the Canadian Government Motion Picture Bureau. As part of the Pick of the Month series, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 12:15 p.m., Gershon Iskowitz's Highland in Red No. 6 will be the feature of a short dialogue in front of the work in the LeRoy and Marguerite Zwicker Gallery. This series is about looking, discussing, questioning, and learning about art's power to provoke so many responses and interpretations.
