NEWS RELEASE (CNS797) -->> EDUCATION/CULTURE--"MALL CRAWL" FOR ENTREPRENEURS EDUCATION/CULTURE--"MALL CRAWL" FOR ENTREPRENEURS ----------------------------------------------------------------- Nine young entrepreneurs are being given the chance to crack the lucrative Christmas retail market in the heart of a Halifax shopping mall this weekend. They are being provided with prime storefront space to sell their wares to customers seeking unique gifts. Items on sale will range from handmade pop-up cards to hemp jewelry made from recycled skateboards. The sales initiative called, Mall Crawl, is a project of Open for Business, a youth entrepreneurship resource centre run by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development with assistance from Human Resources Development Canada and MT&T. The retail space is being provided by the Bayers Road Shopping Centre. The young entrepreneurs and their products are: Marguerite Drescher, jewelry; Rachel Day, pop-up cards; Derek Power, sweaters; Andrew Porter, hemp jewelry/skateboard beads; Christian Wood, leather and wooden goods; Eric Lafontaine, hand-made cards; Chloe McAllister, hair scrunchies & candles; and Tara Lewis and Karen Stille, candles & jewelry. The young entrepreneurs will be selling their wares from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16. Open for Business promotes entrepreneurship as a way for people to gain a greater degree of control over their lives and achieve economic independence. Located on Grafton Street, Halifax, Open for Business provides a wide range of free resources to young people interested in entrepreneurship.
