NEWS RELEASE (CNS853) -->> EDUCATION/CULTURE--"HANDCRAFTED CHRISTMAS" EDUCATION/CULTURE--"HANDCRAFTED CHRISTMAS" ----------------------------------------------------------------- The Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design is hosting a craft display entitled "Handcrafted Christmas". This Christmas display highlights crafts with festive charm, to capture the holiday spirit. The display, at the Centre, 1683 Barrington Street, Halifax, is part of the ongoing production crafts display program. It allows the public to look at the work of Nova Scotia producers without the pressure to buy. Information is made available for people who wish to know where the products can be purchased. It also provides good samples of the range and quality of crafts available in the province. "Handcrafted Christmas" promotes a variety of beautiful crafts and products, such as colourful knitted hats, unique candles, furry teddy bears, wooden toys, hand printed paper, glass ornaments, decorative ironwork and much more. The display includes work from craftspeople located throughout Nova Scotia: Alida's Crafts, fibre, Terrance Bay; Applewicks, candles, Wolfville; Armview Pottery, clay, Halifax; Atlantic Bag Manufacturers, fibre, Halifax; East Meets East Designs, paper, Halifax; Firefly Toys and Activities, toys, Halifax; Folkstone Pottery, clay, Ketch Harbour; Jeff Cowling-Fine Wood Crafts, wood, Halifax; Joleen Gordon, organic, Dartmouth; Mary Maureen Designs, fibre, Halifax; One Off Studio, clay, East Preston; Paperchain, paper, Halifax; Robicheau Collections, clay, Meteghan; Seagull Pewter, metal, Pugwash; The Orb Factory, metal, Halifax; Urban Alchemy, metal, Halifax; R. W. Woodworking, wood, Kingston; Studio Glass, glass, Tennecape; Vitrine Studio, glass, Halifax, and Windsor Bears, fibre, Windsor. The Centre for Craft and Design is dedicated to preserving and promoting the craft industry of Nova Scotia. The centre is part of the cultural affairs division of the Department of Education and Culture. "Handcrafted Christmas" may be viewed Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The centre will be closed Dec. 24 (at noon), 25 and 26.
