NEWS RELEASE (CNS861) -->> ENVIRONMENT--CALL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS NOMINATIONS ENVIRONMENT--CALL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS NOMINATIONS ----------------------------------------------------------------- The Nova Scotia Environmental Assessment Board wants to hear about the people and organizations that are working to improve the environment of the province. The board is calling for nominations for its annual Environmental Awards Program. "Each year, Nova Scotians of all ages and walks of life make valuable contributions to the preservation and enhancement of the ecosystem. We think its only fitting to thank them for their leadership with public recognition," said Bill Charles, chair of the Environmental Assessment Board. Awards are presented annually in nine categories: business/industrial, government, citizens groups or organizations, individual/professional, education, science fairs, youth, sustainable development, creative arts/media. Anyone can nominate a candidate. The award recipients are selected by the members of the Nova Scotia Environmental Assessment Board and the awards will be presented at a ceremony in the spring of 1997. Winners may subsequently be nominated for the Canadian Healthy Environment Awards program.
