NEWS RELEASE (CNS946) -->> PREMIER--ANNE MURRAY'S HOME-COMING CHRISTMAS PREMIER--ANNE MURRAY'S HOME-COMING CHRISTMAS ----------------------------------------------------------------- Premier John Savage announced today the Province of Nova Scotia will honor singer Anne Murray at a Home-Coming Christmas reception and luncheon at Province House, Wednesday, Dec. 18. "We are very pleased to be honoring one of Nova Scotia's greatest ambassadors," said the premier. "For over 30 years Anne Murray has been pleasing crowds around the world. Her international success has created immeasurable publicity for Nova Scotia as Ms. Murray has always highlighted that she is a Canadian singer and in particular, a Nova Scotian." Entertainment at the reception will be provided by other talented Nova Scotians: singer John Gracie, cellist Shimon Walt, guitarist Scott Macmillan, fiddler Dave MacIsaac, fiddler/mandolin player Gordon Stobbe, guitarist Ken Enman, and the St. Theresa's Folk Choir of Halifax. "I believe it is only fitting that we entertain Anne Murray with the same great Nova Scotian talent that she has been providing to audiences everywhere," said the premier. Ms. Murray, a native of Springhill, will be performing at the Halifax Metro Centre as part of her Canadian tour. Her industry achievements include four Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, 25 Juno Awards and worldwide album sales of over 25 million.
