HEALTH--PLAN FOR HOME CARE ----------------------------------------------------------------- A multi-year plan for the provincial Home Care Nova Scotia program to help set the framework for future growth will be announced next month, Health Minister Bernie Boudreau said today. The plan will set the course for home care development over the next two fiscal years, and will include data from the case load review conducted last fall, the minister said. "Home care is on its way to becoming a mature program and a full partner in the health care system," said Mr. Boudreau. "In this phase of development, the program will grow in gradual stages over the next two years." The minister's announcement follows a recent consultation held in Halifax on future directions for the Home Care Nova Scotia program. The consultation included representatives from labor unions, academia, hospitals, physicians, care providers, seniors, government, regional health boards, clients and professional associations. Feedback from the consultation will be included in the plan. "Information from these types of gatherings of interested stakeholders, and other forms of feedback, will be part of ongoing program development as we move forward," the minister said. "We are taking the time to consult with stakeholders as we develop the multi-year plan for Home Care Nova Scotia." -30- Contact: Lori MacLean 902-424-5025 trp Feb. 14, 1997 - 2:25 p.m.
