EDUCATION/CULTURE--NOVA SCOTIA ARCHITECTURE ----------------------------------------------------------------- The Mary E. Black Gallery presents a comprehensive architectural exhibit by members of the Nova Scotia Architects' Association, beginning March 13 through April 5, 1997. Award winners selected from the works of 200 Nova Scotia architects will be on display, representing the creative diversity of buildings province-wide. The awards have been created to recognize outstanding achievements within the major categories of architectural design, and to reflect the unique style of Nova Scotian architecture - an integrated mix of local and international influence. The Lieutenant Governor's Design Awards in Architecture 1997 and Ten Years, a retrospective, will be opened by Lieutenant Governor John James Kinley, and Mrs. Grace Kinley. The 1997 Merit Award winners, Lydon Lynch Architects and WHW Architects, will display full colour panels of their original presentations. The retrospective will feature previous award winning entries: from 1995, The Morses Tea Building, from 1991 the TUNS competition and from 1986 the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. The show is sponsored by the Nova Scotia Architects' Association, The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Culture. Admission is free. Mary E. Black Gallery is located in the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design, 1683 Barrington Street, Halifax. The Gallery hours are Monday to Friday 9-4, and Saturdays 10-4. -30- Contact: Chris Tyler 902-424-4062 trp Mar. 13, 1997 - 9:15 a.m.
