HEALTH-CEO CENTRAL REGIONAL HEALTH BOARD

Barbara Hart, chair of the Central Regional Health Board, is
pleased to announce the appointment of Richard L. Criddle to the
position of chief executive officer. The appointment takes effect
immediately.

The mandate of the Central Regional Health Board is to develop
and operate a comprehensive health care system encompassing acute
care, public health, long-term care, home care, mental health and
drug dependency programs in the Central Region of Nova Scotia.
The Central Region encompasses Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford,
Halifax County, Hants West and a portion of Hants East.

"The Central RHB is extremely pleased with Mr. Criddle's
appointment," said Ms. Hart. "His extensive background,
experience, and innovative thinking will enable the Central RHB
to operationalize its planning with respect to facility
management and community health board development."

Mr. Criddle will focus on the development of strategic and
transition plans to ensure the effective integration of health
care programs and services at both the community and regional
levels.

Mr. Criddle brings over 20 years of senior public sector
experience, most recently as acting CEO of Aberdeen Hospital in
New Glasgow; vice president, administration at the University of
Toronto and executive director of the Victoria General Hospital
in Halifax. Mr. Criddle has also been a respected advisor to
provincial governments on health-related matters and has been
affiliated with major health care associations in Canada and the
US.
