AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--INTERPROVINCIAL 4-H EXCHANGE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Twenty Atlantic 4-H delegates were honored Tuesday by the Royal
Bank of Canada at a special banquet.

"The 20 members were chosen for the achievements and leadership
abilities they have shown as 4-H members," Agriculture Minister
Guy Brown said, "They will be great ambassadors in their
travels".

"A very special thank you to the Royal Bank of Canada for their
annual sponsorship of this exchange program since it began in
1963. This is a fine example of private sector support to youth
development in the country," Mr. Brown said.

The interprovincial exchange program is sponsored by the Royal
Bank and since the program began, over 1,000 4-H members from the
Atlantic Region participated.

The program is designed to provide the opportunity to travel,
experience and become familiar with customs and lifestyles of
other provinces. The program also provides a forum to exchange
ideas and develop an understanding and appreciation of other
Canadians and their 4-H program.

Five Nova Scotia 4-H members will be travelling on this two week
national program.

Daniel Oulton of Hants County is travelling to British Columbia;
Kate Bishop of Annapolis County to Alberta; Catherine Cole,
representing the Colchester/East Hants District is travelling to
Manitoba; Carolyn MacIntyre of Cape Breton to Quebec; and, Amanda
McKay of Pictou County to Prince Edward Island.

Nova Scotia 4-H families will also host five delegates for the
next two weeks with 4-H members from British Columbia, Alberta,
Quebec, Manitoba and Prince Edward Island being treated to Nova
Scotia 4-H hospitality.
