ECONOMIC RENEWAL--DOING BUSINESS IN BOSTON
-----------------------------------------------------------------
With a marketplace of 14 million people, New England is Nova
Scotia's top choice in business partners. Building on the
potential of that population base, several sectors of Nova
Scotia's economy were featured on Bluenose II's trade and
investment sailings in Boston last week.

Economic Renewal Minister Richie Mann and Natural Resources
Minister Eleanor Norrie each hosted sailings on Bluenose II with
New England clients in the information technology,
pharmaceutical, fishing, forestry and oil and gas industries.

"With key decision-makers on board, we were able to promote the
advantages of doing business with Nova Scotia in a short period
of time," said Mr. Mann. "Now our job is to follow-up with these
contacts to turn potential projects into solid deals."

Mrs. Norrie met with gas industry executives to discuss the Sable
Offshore Energy Project. "The sense of optimism and confidence
from the industry was very clear and very encouraging," said Mrs.
Norrie.

"The oil and gas sailing provided an excellent opportunity to
discuss plans for a proposed pipeline to transport Sable gas from
Nova Scotia for distribution in the New England market," she said
the minister also advanced negotiations with a large New England
development company on a potential deal to process under-utilized
wood species.

The Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries hosted a Bluenose sailing
for their New England customers and were encouraged by their
meetings. Deputy Minister Alan Steel said, "With the comeback of
the ground fishery we need to recapture our share of the New
England market. We had positive meetings with key buyers
throughout the Boston area and we're getting ready to regain our
prominence in the ground fish market with species like cod and
haddock."

The Bluenose II was docked next to the USS Constitution and was
open to the public during its visit to Boston. The tall ship also
participated in a reunion for original crew members of the
Bluenose and its rival, Gertrude L. Thibault, in Gloucester, on
its way to Boston.
