ECONOMIC RENEWAL--MARGARETSVILLE WATERFRONT DEVELOPMENT
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The tide of change is sweeping through Margaretsville, Annapolis
County. It's a tide that will bring more visitors, more tourist
dollars and a re-developed waterfront.

The $35,950 project, was announced today by Economic Renewal
Minister Richie Mann.

The addition of an amphitheatre allows the community to further
develop its waterfront as an area for entertainment, and to build
on community events like Margaretsville Days, the Polar Bear Dip,
and Fundy Folk Concerts. The project also includes the
construction of a walkway to the lighthouse at Margaretsville,
benches, washrooms and signage.

"This will improve traffic flow around Margaretsville, provide
more accessible parking, and make the waterfront a safer place
for residents and visitors," said David O'Leary, treasurer of the
Margaretsville Waterfront Development Association.

Harry Verran, MP for South West Nova, made the announcement of
federal government assistance on behalf of Secretary of State
Lawrence MacAulay.

The improvements are funded by the Nova Scotia Economic Renewal
Agency's Community Opportunities Fund ($17,350), the Atlantic
Canada Opportunities Agency ($5,350) and the Margaretsville
Waterfront Development Association ($13,250).
