TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS--WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS-DATES REVISED
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Due to the weather conditions and continuing cooler temperatures
across the province, the Minister of Transportation and Public
Works has determined that it is not necessary to implement spring
weight restrictions as early this season as in past years.

The weight restriction period has been revised in the following
counties:

Yarmouth, Shelburne, Digby and Queens, will now go into effect
12:01 a.m. March 19, 1997, instead of 12:01 a.m., March 16, 1997.
The restriction end date in these areas is April 20.

Annapolis, Kings, Lunenburg, Halifax and Hants will now go into
effect 12:01 a.m. March 19, 1997, instead of 12:01 a.m., March
16, 1997. The restriction end date in these areas is April 27.

Colchester, Cumberland, Pictou, Antigonish, Guysborough,
Richmond, Inverness, Victoria, and Cape Breton will now go into
effect 12:01 a.m. March 23, 1997, instead of 12:01 a.m., March
16, 1997. The restriction end date in these areas is May 4.

If the current temperatures continue the closing dates may be
extended.

Certain roads in the province will be exempt from the weight
restrictions. The road list is available at the Department of
Transportation and Public Works district and area offices, the
provincial scale houses and on the department website at
www.gov.ns.ca/tran

The minister has the right to revise the zones, weight
restrictions, and the list of roads exempted as conditions
warrant.
