BUSINESS/CONSUMER SERVICES--Motor Registry Moving to Kentville
Customers of the Registry of Motor Vehicles in the eastern
Annapolis Valley are about to receive more convenient service as
the registry is moving from its current quarters in New Minas to
a new and spacious location in Kentville.

Business and Consumer Services Minister Wayne Gaudet announced
today the New Minas registry will close at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct.
3, and Registry of Motor Vehicles services will be available
Monday, Oct. 6, at the new Access Nova Scotia centre at 28
Aberdeen St., Kentville. 

"People who are used to the New Minas facility will notice a
tremendous improvement," Mr. Gaudet said. "The new Kentville
Access Nova Scotia centre is a far more spacious and comfortable
facility for both our customers and staff."

Ample parking is available at numerous public lots in downtown
Kentville, the minister said.

In addition to the Registry of Motor Vehicles, the new Access
Nova Scotia centre will house Consumer and Commercial Relations.
That office, which offers residential tenancies services and
orderly payment of debt and consumer proposals programs, as well
as deals with consumer complaints, will move from its Kentucky
Court location in New Minas to Kentville.

The new centre will also offer information on government programs
and services, as well as many services of the Registry of Joint
Stock Companies for the benefit of Annapolis Valley businesses. 
"This centre is all about improving service to local residents
and businesses by placing the most accessed government services
under one roof," Mr. Gaudet said.

Similar centres opened in Halifax and Dartmouth this past summer,
with others planned for throughout Nova Scotia over the next
three to five years.

The minister added that vehicle registration --the most common
Registry of Motor Vehicles transaction --may now be done over the
phone. "With every vehicle registration renewal package is a form
that explains the telephone renewal option," Mr. Gaudet said.
"This is a very convenient option for those who didn't renew by
mail or can't make it down to the Access centre."
