AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--Annapolis Agricultural Rep Appointed
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Agriculture and Marketing Minister Ed Lorraine today announced
the appointment of Jean Ward as agricultural representative for
Annapolis County, effective immediately.

Mrs. Ward is a graduate of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College,
Macdonald College of McGill University, and Mount Allison
University. She has worked for the Nova Scotia Department of
Agriculture and Marketing as a farm management specialist, as
adviser for the comprehensive farm development program and, for
the past five years, as acting agricultural representative for
Digby County.

She has also served as the provincial agricultural awareness
co-ordinator and has been actively involved in local agriculture
awareness activities, the Holstein Association of Canada and many
community groups in the Bridgetown area.

"Jean's organizational experience, knowledge and enthusiasm for
agriculture will be assets as we continue to further develop and
diversify the agricultural industry in Annapolis County," said
Mr. Lorraine.

The process of finding a replacement for Mrs. Ward in Digby
County has already begun. A replacement should be in place by
early November. In the meantime, Mrs. Ward and Marianne Ward,
agricultural representative for Yarmouth County, will be
providing service to clients in Digby County.

"The department is committed to supporting our rural communities
through our agricultural representatives, and we will work to
ensure our clients in Digby County continue to receive excellent
service," said Mr. Lorraine.
