NATURAL RESOURCES--Search for 1998 Woodlot Owner of the Year
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Do you know of an outstanding landowner whose attitude, knowledge
and achievements are reflected through their woodlot?

Department of Natural Resources staff are searching for nominees
for the 1998 Nova Scotia Woodlot Owner of the Year award. In its
ninth year, the award recognizes outstanding woodlot owners who
practise integrated resource management.

Nominees must be residents of Nova Scotia and own at least 20
hectares (50 acres) of woodland that has been actively managed
for at least three years. Nominations can be made by contacting
private-lands staff at Department of Natural Resources offices.
The deadline for nominations is Dec. 12, 1997.

Eight regional finalists will be selected Jan. 31, 1998. A
committee of representatives from Natural Resources will meet
with the finalists and visit their woodlot in the spring.

The winner will be announced in early June. A field day and award
presentation will be held on the winner's woodlot in September.
Regional winners will also receive an award to recognize their
achievements.
