Support for communities impacted by the April 2020 mass casualty
Health, wellness, grief and bereavement supports are available for Cumberland, Colchester and Hants Counties.

Nova Scotia experienced an unimaginable tragedy. To help those who were impacted by the April 2020 mass casualty, government is providing immediate support to people in Cumberland, Colchester and Hants Counties, as recommended by the Mass Casualty Commission’s final report.
Supports available
Supports include:
- trauma counselling
- mental health and grief support
- family resource centres and other supports for children, youth and families
- social workers
- financial support for survivors
- a community outreach worker
- a mobile clinic
- a community engagement team

Call 211 for help finding the supports you need. Community resource navigators will connect you with someone who can help or just listen.
Community outreach worker
The community outreach worker travels to communities to provide mental wellness supports to individuals and groups in Cumberland, Colchester and Hants Counties. They also help connect people to other supports, including clinical mental healthcare.
Mobile clinic
You can access health and wellness services (like primary care assessments, prescription refills or renewals, mental health support and grief and bereavement support) at the mobile clinic. The mobile clinic team can also connect you with services not offered on site (like ongoing mental health and addictions supports).
You don’t need to make an appointment and there’s no cost to visit the clinic. If you have a Nova Scotia Health Card, bring it with you.
A community engagement team will also be on-site at the mobile clinic to hear from the community and learn how to meet their needs.

Supports for children
Health and wellness services for children and youth are available in the community through SchoolsPlus and Adolescent Outreach Services.
Children can also access mental health, grief and bereavement support at the mobile clinic.
Community engagement
Consultation about community needs is ongoing. People in Cumberland, Colchester and Hants Counties can attend a session and talk to the engagement team.

Discussions are also underway to identify community-based partners to work with Nova Scotia Health, IWK Health, Tajikeimɨk (the Mi’kmaw health and wellness organization) and the government to design and implement long-term programs and services with the community.
Feedback
A community engagement team will be on-site at the mobile clinic to hear from the community and learn how to meet their needs. You don’t need to make an appointment to share your feedback with the community engagement team.
Community members can also provide feedback to the engagement team through a new online survey. Feedback helps make sure that wellness supports and services can meet the community's needs long-term.
