Community Inclusion and Day Programming
The Disability Support Program (DSP) supports adults and youth with disabilities to participate in meaningful activities, and in being a part of their community. Day programs funding by DSP are offered by non-profit organizations in all regions of Nova Scotia in a variety of settings. A list of available providers is included below.
Day programs support people in many aspects of their lives. They value the choices and self-determination of participants. They offer a range of programming, activities, and supports and are flexible to meet a wide range of needs. Some activities and supports offered include skill development and training, job preparation and supported employment, social outings and recreational activities, as well as personal care. Some activities are based in the program location while others are in various community places. Some of these programs operate small businesses where people with disabilities can learn on the job skills and have employment opportunities.
