Andrew Alex, seated by the side of the road to the boat landing across from Chapel Island, wearing a long white wampum belt across his chest. Alex was the putu's, keeper of the ceremonial wampum belts, read each year at the St. Anne's Day celebrations (the week of 26 July) at Indian Island, now Chapel Island, N.S. The present whereabouts of the wampum belts is unknown.
